Artist Statement

In this portfolio, they are many creative and artistic that I have done over this semester (Shutter Speed, Fill-in-Flash, surrealism, and etc.) They will be found in my portfolio. I believe that I have done well with my portfolio even thought I haven’t turn my surrealism. I have prearranged my portfolio and make sure every picture is on the right spot to easier to grade. During this semester, my favorite thing is shutter speed because it is interesting and entertaining. You can move around while the camera is taking the picture. Once it’s done taking the picture, it comes out crazy, not just one, but you can see the same person everywhere in the picture.

During this semester, I have learned Fill-in-Flash, Shutter Speed, White Balance, Red eye, ISO, and etc. The most successful thing that I have done was shutter speed because it is fun and it feels like keep playing with it for the whole day. I have been struggling with my surrealism because it was hard and I couldn’t finish on time. I have been trying to create a spirit ball, but couldn’t do it because it took time and also it was hard to do. In the future I could improve by finish my assignments on time, and if I need help I shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help.

I have been influence by Miss Cook because I didn’t ask for help and she been coming to me and helped me a lot on the surrealism. Also I should come in during lunch and stay after school for help. But I chose to stay during lunch for help just for. After that, I had been asking for help on my other project. Thing that I have been improving on is asking for help a lot and finish my work on time.

Personal Metaphor: Like a Tire being worn out

My metaphor is called “Like a tire being worn out.” I chose this because I feel like people from where work at is taking advantage of me. I feel like they using me for money. They expect me to buy them something whenever I go to Seven Eleven to buy some snacks. I used to offer them if they want anything from Seven Eleven, but now I stopped because they don’t offer me anything. I know that they have their own money to spend on and my money is going away quick. I realize that I have to spend money on important things instead wasting my money on other people.

I think I have done well on being creative and not choosing pieces from the internet. I could have done well by putting my body parts on the tire better and make it realistic. The most difficult part was putting the body parts together because it was hard for me to make it realistic. I honestly think I did well and I should get a B for this project.

Shutter Speed

Our settting was in the corner of the class by the door in the dark. We were messing with shutterspeed, ISO, aperture, and the glowsticks. We had set the camera (M) Manuel Mode witch controls everything (WB, aperture, shutterspeed, ISO). We increase our shutter speed and the aperture. Also we had the tripod and using the twelve second timer. Our experience was that we can move around while the camera is taking the picture. The best thing that we did was that we use the glow sticks which is shown above.

Fill in Flash

Fill in flash helps you get rid of shadows. For example: If a hat is putting too much shadow on your face, thats when you use fill in flash to see your face. Another example on the second picture, the person had alot of shadow, so I use fill in flash to get rid of the shadow and able to see him very well which is shown on the first picture above. You want to use fill in flash because you want to see it very clearly.

Surrealism:Dragonball

Once upon a time, an amazing boy was born with marvelous powers and could do anything with it. He had a created a spirit ball flying on his hand. He found out that he can do anything with his powers and especially he can able to fly with no strings attached to him. The amazing boy was having too much fun with his powers, but one day he realized that he need to used his powers very wisely and used it for good and stop evil. Couple months later, he had finally know how to control his powers and able to used it wisely. He was very happy that he was born with it and luckily he is on the good side fighting immorality.

Surreal Practice

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. I like how we overlay other pictures on top of each other. It looks amazing.

ISO

Effects

I really like the first picture because I like how she (Princess) pops out of the picture. I like everything else is blur out except for the emphasis(Princess).

Frames

I really like my first picture because it looks like I am holding the picture but I'm not. I think that it is very creative of what I did to that picture. I could be more artistic by not having a mean face. In this picture I should of smile or come up with a crazy face.

Color

I really enjoy my color shots because I think that it’s very creative. Also it expresses my feelings to everyone because I’m letting the people know that I am being my self and having lots of fun in my life. In the future, I could be better on being creative and used my imagination.

Balance: Asymmetrical vs Symmetrical

Symmetrical balance is when half of the photo is similar to the other. Asymetrical is when half of the photo has more going on then the other half but its still similar.

Group Callaboration

I found that the most difficult part about taking group photos was that no one didn't have any ideas. We kept walking throughtout the school and everyone kept saying to each other "Does anyone has any ideas?" So suddenly some one had an idea and we use the tree for our group callaboration. The only thing I would differently that we should had stay before we got outside and come up with brilliant ideas.
