Artistic Statement

This is my portfolio for this semester class of my Digital Photo. We have learned many different things during this course and we took regular pictures and we made them into artistic photos. We have been using different methods by using the camera, taking pictures, and using Photoshop’s being able to put regular picture into a fun and interesting picture by using Photoshop tools. Basically sometimes we turn our picture into black and white picture. I have done many projects in this class but there are some I didn’t do.
I think I did really good but I think I should done more better by using better and creative ideas and should done my projects that I haven’t turn in yet. Also I should organized my portfolio better there are some that are not in order. I really think that my grade for this portfolio should be either B or C for the overall. I should of have take my time on this portfolio but I really think I did well on this portfolio and I think I can get a good grade also.
In this course I learned many things. I had learned rule of thirds, leading lines, extreme angles, and etc. I had learned a lot of things in Photoshop. We have taken regular pictures and we used creative ideas to add crazy things to our pictures. We had taken regular pictures of our head and made it into a zombie by adding special effects to it and also using the tools from Photoshop. We can take pictures of our self and you can turn yourself into a ghost.
I think I’m successful on working with Photoshop. Photoshop is easy thing to do and its fun. Sometimes it’s complicated than it is, but anyone can get used to it and have fun with it. I really like Photoshop because its interesting and you can add and do crazy things with your regular photo that you had taken. I think I can keep doing good with Photoshop and have fun with it.
The project that I have struggle the most is Haunted Chavez because I couldn’t add any more characters. I believe that I didn’t enough room to add more characters in my picture. Also I tried to make my characters to look better, but I couldn’t so I had to use warp to be able to fix it. I should have taken a picture where I can add more characters in it and be able to fix it.
In the future I should improve my portfolio better because now I need to organized and should have take my time on the project that I had done before. Also there are some project that I didn’t post and finish and I should done it and came after school to finish it.
The most improvement thing that I have done that I believe is doing my project. I know that I haven’t turned a couple in, but I think I did good on the rest of my project that I have turned in.

Lyrics

The lyrics that I chose for this project are "What I've Done" by Linkin Park. The reason I chose this lyric is because when I was younger, I have done many bad things in the past. It means to me alot because I can forgive my self and others. For four years I been doing better and also help others. These lyrics make feel like that I can be a trustful person.

Haunted Chavez

For this project we have to portray "Haunted Chavez" having a setting at our school and make it into a haunted Chavez. My idea was taking a picture in a classroom with Ms. Cook on the computer. Also with one zombie and one ghost. My most difficult decisions that I made was adding another character. I didn't have enough room so I left with three characters. I think I did good on this project. My overall for my opinion that I would get for a grade would be B-.

Critique: ParkeHarrison "Guardian"

A man stands upon the two long sticks on top of the branch while a fog is surrounding him. He also has two wings attach to him made out of woods. It looks like he is trying to jump out of the branch and try to fly. It looks like he knows what he is doing and he is not afraid to jump off the branch.

Scary Expressions

This picture of me reminds of the villian Two-Face from Batman, but in a different version. Also it looks like I am really angry with the red eye.

I would of freaked out if I would became like this. Nobody wouldn't like me and try to kill because they think that I am a zombie trying eat people brains. I would lose alot of friends and families that I had.

I would be so scared if I would go in the woods by myself and see ghost with blood on them. I freaked out, but I wouldn't scream. I would try run for my life.

The Scream My Interpretation

I think he is screaming because he probably saw someone went into the ocean and the guy seen a shark in the ocean. Then suddenly the guy who is in the ocean got eaten by a big white shark. The guy, who is on the beach, was in shock. So he turned around and scream and put his hands on his cheeks.

Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity.

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle. The picture I did successful on is my leading because it captures a good mood and I like the line go straight to my shoes. The picture I should done better is my extreme angles because the trees are in the way. I think I got an A or B for my overall.

Contact Sheet

I think I did a good job on this picture. The picture that turned out the best was the Depth of Field. The favorite picture that really like is the macro because I zoom in and I like the light blends in.

Crop

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo, that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.

Extreme Angles

When I took this picture, I have to move to the side so i can get an angle. The best thing about this picture is that when he threw up his arms. To make this better, I should have move to the side more so I can get a good picture. I chose this picture because it is way better than my other pictures.

Macro

Macro deals with two things: Texture and Dept of Field. Means that you get a closer look at smaller objects. The backgrounds tends to get blurry. It magnifies and you see different things with your own eyes. On first picture with the two bottles, the background is blurred out. The second picture, I zoom all the way.

Leading Lines

Leading Lines is where a line leads to your main subject. For example: The Line on the side wall is leading into me. Also the big papers on the wall is another example of a leading line.

Rule of Thirds

The Rule of Thirds is easiest thing you can do. You get the picture at an angel, but you have to use focus by pressing the button half way down.
The main subject has be in the corner of the camera.
